Small Victories
Mornings are not my favorite time of day…and Monday mornings are like torture.
However, today was a rare exception. I was up before the kids. I made coffee for the adults. I helped my daughter pick out her outfit for school. Then I made breakfast (on the stove…not in a cereal bowl) for the kids and made my daughter’s school lunch. She was on time for the bus and I finished the dishes. Now, I am at the computer with a clean kitchen and my son beside me watching Scooby Doo and chatting.
Granted, all these accomplishments are not that big of a deal, but this is ME we’re talking about! Last school year, I was barely dragging my carcass out of bed in time to put my daughter on the school bus…after her dad had woken her up, made her breakfast, and she’d dressed herself. Then, I’d let my son sleep in until I was in human form (as in awake and aware).
So the fact that I got so much accomplished before 8 am is my own personal victory. I just have to celebrate and hope the rest of the day goes just as well!
